THE BURIED LIFE by Matthew Arnold

But often, in the world’s most crowded streets,
But often, in the din of strife
There rises an unspeakable desire
After the knowledge of our buried life;
A thirst to spend our fire and restless force
In tracking out our true, original course;
A longing to inquire
Into the mystery of this heart which beats
So wild, so deep within us – to know
Whence our lives come and where they go.

Taken from James Sire The Universe Next Door;
Downer’s Grove InterVarsity, 1976

    What an absolutely gorgeous photo. It works so well with the poem too.

    Lovely. Just lovely.

    what? This poem is about a life that is UNSEEN, a world that is symbolised by a metaphoric river that leads to a “sea of faith”. I think you have completely chosen to ignore the purpose of this poem

    Most of the people (apparently not you, but most) who read this blog know that I’m a Christian, and probably guessed the true intent and history of the poem.
    The picture is just there because a)I thought it was
    pretty and b) there’s no water imagery in the lines, so I used the road.. I believed it served its purpose equally well.

    Please be kind to the locals and tip your waitress.

  5. Tenho certeza que isso pedaço de escrita tocou em toda a internet
    visitantes, sua realmente fastidioso post na construção de novos webpage .
